Thanks from Prospero’s Project
We’ve run out of fingers and toes to count on, but the year-end tally is impressive: in 2019 Prospero’s Project contributed more than 3,000 volumes to foodbanks, schools and libraries.
We can only give away the books thanks to your support, and we want you to know that we are grateful.
Prospero’s Project is the name we gave our social enterprise. We use our resources and a portion of our profits to work with various organisations, hoping to put books in the hands of people who may not have easy access to books on their own.
In 2019, the funds to pay for the books we gave came from selling our Christmas stockings; from specific two-for-one sponsorship appeals; from the donation tin on our counter; and from Much Ado (don’t tell the accountant, all right?).
Thank you for your help and support. We look forward to more Prospero’s Project programming in 2020!
While we’re closed . . .
As of Thursday, 9 January, we’re closed.
What’s going on? A little rest and a little relaxation are in order. But we’re also working on exciting plans for the compound.
Plans are a bit up in the air – we have several options we are working on, and announcing particular changes just now would risk being just plain wrong. We aim to improve space for visiting authors and artists; add displays of bookarts; and improve the way we display books. Plus . . .
No; that would be telling. Stay tuned!
Ordering Books
Need a book, and hope to support us with your order? We expect to be able to help, although the ordering service may take longer than we’re used to. We have arranged for the Alfriston Newsagents opposites us to hold books for pick-up (please note: They are open only until lunchtime most days). And of course, we can post books, too!
Be in touch if we can help: Call us on 01323 871444, or e-mail us by clicking here.
Possible Pop-ups
Stay tuned for news: We hope to arrange possible pop-up book-browsing opportunities on some afternoons in coming months.
