Helen Bain - The Daffodil Days
Helen Bain - The Daffodil Days
The Daffodil Days introduces a series of characters who live in the Devon town of North Tawton. A shop assistant dreams of London; a doctor regrets his intimate knowledge of the residents; a farm labourer relishes his bell ringing.
They - and others - each touch the lives of recent residents, Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes and their young daughter, who moved there in the early 1960s.
The result: A subtle, engrossing portrait of village lives, building a dimensional portrait of Plath and Hughes. Moving and sympathetic, clear-eyed and wonderfully filled with human understanding, the book is a huge pleasure.
We were delighted to host an event with Helen Bain in April, and have a few signed copies left for you to find in-store, or order here and we’ll send to your door.
