Join us for a special Yuletide Book Swap and Cocktail Party on Friday, 4 December

Come along to swap a book, sip a drink, exchange some bookish chat - and if you like, enjoy making your own Christmas card with supplies we’ll provide.

The party starts at 6:30pm, in the first-floor event room at The Star Inn, Alfriston.

Bring along a book like someone else to enjoy – one you loved, but maybe one you loath. Hardback and paperback books are welcome; fiction or cookery or history or poetry - whatever you want to share.

By the end of the evening you’ll take home a book another reader has brought to the event.

And there will be advance proof copies for you to browse, and ‘blind date’ books (wrapped, with a just a hint to tempt you) too.

Enjoy a bit of crafting? We’ll have a special table available for those who might enjoy making their own Christmas card. You’ll find lots of paper bits, vintage illustrations, ephemera and other pieces to use – we look forward to seeing what you make!

Maybe you’ll enjoy something delicious to sip, thanks to the bar at The Star - and ‘mocktails’ are available, if you’re alcohol-free. You could think about reserving a table for supper after the event, too - call The Star on 01323 870 495.

Admittance costs £6. Please help our planning by securing your place in advance (we will keep a guest list - no tickets for you to deal with). You may stop in the shop to pay, or use the form here.
