8 August: Angels in the Cellar book discussion and wine tasting
Two decades ago, Peter Hahn suffered a breakdown while riding in the back of a cab; his high-flying big-city life was overwhelming. Inspired to change, he found a Loire vineyard needing a loving owner and with his wife Juliette took on the ancient property.
Angels in the Cellar is his account of growing wine at Le Clos de la Meslerie and the many neighbours and friends who have supported his work.
Charming, frank, and even poetical, the book is a fascinating account of the gritty day-to-day effort needed to coax grapes from ancient vines. It is also a meditation on farming, land, tradition, family and the joys of creating something special.
We’re looking forward to having Peter join us with a few bottles of wine from Le Clos de la Meslerie for a talk and tasting starting at 6pm on Friday 8 August. We’ll hold the event at Much Ado, and there is limited space available.
The ticket is a copy of Angels in the Cellar, purchased at a 20% discount - making it £16 - from Much Ado. (Couples who only want one copy can buy an additional ticket for £5. The vagaries of technology mean we have to ask you add the second ticket separately, by e-mail or in the shop. E-mail us when ordering, please, and we’ll sort this out!)
We won’t issue tickets, but will run a guest list.
