Join Karen for a fascinating discussion about feminism, football, and life at a special event on Sunday 26 October. She will be in conversation with musician Guy Pratt, author of My Bass and Other Animals.

Karen will be discussing her experiences as a woman in the men’s world of football, and her personal journey from bored-by-footie to Director of the remarkable Lewes club - the first club in the world to pay men and women equally.

“If my local football club, Lewes FC, had not, in 2017, decided to pioneer equal pay for its women’s team, then I would never have been sucked in, she says. “But it did. And I was. And once I got involved, it was like I’d fallen down the rabbit hole. However nuts, everything in this book really happened. It was exhilarating and frustrating, inspiring and maddening, surreal and too real.

How does a trained counsellor and former catwalk model end up navigating the male-dominated world of football? And what do her experiences suggest for women fighting for equality in the wider world?

Karen brings lively humour as well as pointed intelligence to her account of life in the backrooms of Lewes FC, and her talk promises to be wonderfully entertaining as well as thoughtful and thought-provoking.
